Sad tale of New zealand

Postby Tim » Mon 24 May, 2010 10:36 am

I have planned to go to New Zealand next winter when its summer there.
I have studied all the resorts for some time over the last 12 months in preparation of booking this
There 54 resorts - the vast majority of them points resorts which cant be booked until 10 month before as you know.
I now find about 3 -4 weeks into the 10 month period i can get no points resorts- not even at exactly 10 month stage.
I have contacted rci who inform me there are no vacancies in points which i must say is unbelieveable.- this is over a 5 week period
I was offered one weeks resort in the south island for 2 weeks - no use as i want a number of single weeks.
So our dream of new zealand is lost and doesnt seem much hope for the future as no doubt the same thing will happen next year.
I didnt expect a lot of results but none at all in points is disturbing to say the least.
Rci tell me australia and new zealand are very difficult but my first attempt in the gold coast at the same time was sucessfull.
But i dont want to go there.
A sad tale but i needed to get it off my chest

Hi Tim

This kind of thing is never mentioned in sales talk is it - what are we told, "wherever and whenever"!!

What about weeks' resorts? Is there any availability there? Have you put in an search request?

Is it a case of a number of resorts on the gold coast (hence availability) and then very few elsewhere? Perhaps other members might have hints as to how they got accommodation in this part of the world.

What about trying Dial an Exchange and see if they have any availability?

hi Sue,
yes we have done a weeks search but we were told about from the one mentioned in my post we were unlikely to get others
I asked why for 5 weeks there was no availablitily on points results - one in 10 month window - no answer.
They tried to sell me rented 3 and 4 day breaks - which were to be good value
Seems hopeless
