RCI Class action

Postby stribbs » Wed 20 Jan, 2010 6:47 pm

Having been subject to a reselling scam some 2 years ago( Full Circle Ltd) I am a little suspicious of recent approaches by ownersaction claiming they are activating a class action free of legal costs etc. However they do require attendance at a centre several miles away and i interpret whats on their website as another way to introduce another reselling ploy. Does anyone else know of such approaches and what can they tell me.

I was approached by the National Timeshare Helpline last July who said they were involved with the class action against RCI. I was promised on the phone that I would receive between £8,000 and £12,000 for my timeshare but I would have to travel to to their offices to meet their legal team. After extensive searches on the internet, I decided not to attend and trusted my feeling that it was too good to be true.

Have a look at the thread under 'Help please, I have a Problem'.

I have found the following site with the latest information regards the settlement.

http://www.weeksprogramsettlement.com/

For those of us who were former weeks members and got our claim registered in time, will get their payment.

As a former weeks member we will only get $15 on 11th October 2010.
Current weeks members will get other benefits, such as free weeks accomodation etc. To be taken within 2 years.

RCI settled out of court but it must have been a lesson for them.
I hear there is a class action now from Points members. Does anyone know anything about this.

Not heard anything - will have to do some digging to find out. As long as it is not these organisations pretending to set up a class action, enticing people along to their offices and then trying to get them to buy a 'timeshare' product/scheme.

I wonder how we'll get our $15. If it is a $ cheque, then it may be uneconomic to cash it. Hopefully, it will be in £.
